Check out this awesome Thursday post from Design Sponge on vegan taxidermy.
I never really got into the whole faux animal head on your wall trend. I think it looks cool but it’s not my style. This, though–this might be my style.
You?

It’s November and that means funky sweaters and bike rides beneath orange and red trees, more cups of tea, and extra blankies at night.
I’m mooning over the coziness of autumn today–the fall colors, the warmth of a sunny afternoon under a crisp blue sky.
(And if you’re mooning over the outdoors today, check out my post on hosting a fall bonfire at the NI LAKES blog.)
Happy snuggling!

This Post of the Week comes to you via Design Sponge and the fabulous Grace Bonney (whose book comes out in September–lucky us!). On Monday she posted a few house tours, including the home of Myriam Balaÿ-Devidal in southern France. This is just a taste. Check out the whole sneak peek on Design Sponge.
I want to live in southern France too!

Hello! Welcome back. I have returned from my neglectful foray into the non-virtual world of freelance writing. Well, not permanently. But I do intend to pay a lot more attention to my Gypsy Mind in upcoming days. Suffice it to say, I have been busy. Apologies to my regular readers who, by now, have ventured onto and no doubt fallen in love with other design blogs. And that is a plus for all of us.
The good news is, I come back to you with new material. We all enjoy an inspiring dining room–a place to gather with friends and family, one that inspires us to cook up special meals and celebrations, one that doesn’t say, “use me as a place to conduct all your small household projects and pay bills!”–which is what my dining room, in its current state, says to me.
Enjoy! (Click pics. for sources.) And thanks so much for stopping by.

First up, a beauty from Apartment Therapy.
Farmhouse style–not sure it gets better than this.
WHAT a room. I want that light fixture.
The rest of the house is just as fascinating.
Love me some turquoise.
In that same vein, I love the happy colors in this room.

Pure glamour.
This is a peek at a table setting featured in Anthology.
If you haven’t read Anthology, do! It’s filled with gorgeousness.
Last but not least, an artfully styled, multi-functional room.

Once again my post title could be the name of a bad romance novel. But let’s not go all the way with that one.
First of all, Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I had a wonderful Mother’s Day and hope you did too! My boys treated me to a baseball game and we won some restaurant gift certificates. There were hot dogs and pretzels and our team won. It was a perfect afternoon.
Now to the subject at hand, beauty in neutrals–more specifically, the use of white in rooms that are, not stark, but warm and inviting. Impossible you say? Check these out and tell me what you think.
This one comes from Design Sponge, new today.
This one’s from shop owner, blogger,
and expert on this very subject, Maria.
Her shop and blog are called Dreamy Whites. Lovely.
Here’s a contemporary-ish take.
I love this clean bedroom, featured on Apartment Therapy.
I enjoy a nice faux fur rug.
I think the textures (painted wood floor, slipcovers, pillows,
and throws) make it homey.
Can’t say enough about this one.

It’s clean, natural, and I love the turquoise.

Isn’t this dining nook sweet?
I love the blue accents.
And last but not least, from Lonny, white provides
a beautiful backdrop for this truly boho
(and obviously professionally styled) office space.
Thanks for stopping by! And have a wonderful week!
